The covenant of St. Michael's Pilgrims of the Jubilee declare our belief in God our Loving Father, in our Risen Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Spirit who is among us. We hear and respond to God's call to minister to the needs of all, that we may grow spiritually as brothers and sisters. We have as our foundation, and the guiding principle of all our activities, fidelity to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, especially to Our Pope, Benedict XVI, vicar of Christ. Our covenant will be led by the Holy Spirit so that the witness of our lives will reflect the peace gained by accepting the sacrifice of Christ.
Western Massachusetts Catholic Homeschoolers
Statement of Purpose:
Our families come together in order to support each other, as obedient Roman Catholics, and to bring the Catholic way of life to greater fruition and brilliance in our homes. We have as our foundation, and the guiding principle of all our activities, fidelity to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, especially to our pope, Benedict XVI, vicar of Christ. Thus we affirm the Magisterium on contraception and other life issues as central to our mission as families. As emphasized in the Second Vatican Council, we parents have a most solemn obligation to educate our offspring. Therefore we are the primary educators of our children. As lay faithful, we are dedicated to promoting home education among Catholic families and to support those families who are engaged in providing their children’s primary education at home.

by David on March 24, 2010, 10:51:04 AMWASHINGTON—The U.S. bishops called on Congress and people in the Catholic community to make sure promises are kept that new health care legislation will not expand abortions in the United States. Cardinal Francis George of Chicago, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, made the call March 23, moments after president Barack Obama signed the Senate version of health care reform legislation approved by the House of Representatives by a slim margin, March 21. The statement was approved unanimously by the 32-member Administrative Committee of the USCCB. “We applaud the effort to expand health care to all,” Cardinal George said. He noted concerns about the legislation, including that “the statute forces all those who choose federally subsidized plans that cover abortion to pay for other people’s abortions with their own funds.” Continued...1252 Views | 4 Replies

by David on March 12, 2010, 02:33:23 PMA federal appeals court upheld the use of the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance and "In God We Trust" on U.S. currency, rejecting arguments Thursday that the phrases violate the separation of church and state. The San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel rejected two legal challenges by Sacramento atheist Michael Newdow, who said the references to God are unconstitutional and infringe on his religious beliefs. The same appeals court caused a national uproar and prompted accusations of judicial activism when it decided in Newdow's favor in 2002, ruling that the pledge violated the First Amendment prohibition against government endorsement of religion. President George W. Bush called the 2002 decision "ridiculous," senators passed a resolution condemning the ruling and Newdow received death threats. Continued...561 Views | 1 Reply
